Big Projects Happening During Utah's Construction Boom
Published September 11th, 2017

One of the realities of construction industry is that workers go where the jobs go. While there are numerous opportunities to work here in Arizona, the state of Utah is in the middle of a construction boom, especially in the higher education and healthcare specialties. A recent Utah Business news article listed some of the more high-profile projects currently under construction.

In Higher Education

Most college campuses in the state of Utah have at least one building under construction. The projects currently going on include:

  • USU Clinical Services Building
  • USU Space Dynamics Laboratory
  • Crocker Science Center conversion (University of Utah)
  • Carolyn and Kem Gardner Building (University of Utah)
  • Dixie Applied Technology Campus
  • A new business department building at Southern Utah University
  • Lindquist Hall Renovations (Weber State University)

In Healthcare

Much of the construction work being done in healthcare can be attributed to investments Intermountain Healthcare (one of Utah's major healthcare networks) is making in their facilities. These projects include:

  • Utah Valley Hospital replacement project (Provo)
  • New medical campus in Layton
  • Dixie Regional Medical Center campus additions (St. George)
  • Intemountain Healthcare Bountiful clinic remodel and expansion (Bountiful)
  • Alta View Hospital renovations and additions

In Other Areas of Construction

Other ongoing projects in the state of Utah include:

  • Vivint Smart Home Arena renovations
  • Utah State Correctional Facility
  • Various renovation projects at Salt Lake City International Airport
  • UPS and Post Cereal distribution facilities
  • Hale Centre Theatre
  • Mountain View Village (a retail, restaurant, office, and hotel center)
