Here's a feel good story for you.
The historic Marion Hotel in Ogden is undergoing a renovation. A new facade, including paint, signs, and windows is happening on the outside, while inside, every unit is getting a face lift, too.
The guests however, won't be tourists or business travelers. No, the hotel is being converted into low-income housing apartments. Two sisters purchased the Marion from their parents last June, and like their parents are carrying on the legacy of community service and outreach. They've even renamed the hotel to the Sean Herrick Apartments, after a stepson who passed away. Sean Herrick enjoyed helping his family provide a free Thanksgiving meal for the community's homeless every year.
It's a $3.6 million renovation that includes offering rent-free storefronts to the Ogden City Police Hub and Catholic Charities. The project is giving a much-needed boost to Ogden's 25th Street, once a bustling area, turned dark. Now, a revitalization is bringing it back.
